Attivo Partnership: Rosie’s Reinvention Retreats

If you relax on your laurels, the innovation stops. Sit in the ‘uncomfortable chair’ and ask yourself: ‘What don’t I know? What’s not working?’ – Holly Tucker, MBE at Rosie’s Reinvention Retreats.

Rosie’s Reinvention Retreats ran from October 16-18 at the Fairmont Hotel, Windsor Park. It was three days of pure energy, warmth and inspiration, with Attivo and skincare brand And Begin as partners.

The days were a combination of talks, workshopping and – importantly – pampering, away from our day-to-day lives, in luxury surroundings – lovely!

Attivo Associate Director Katie White was there to take guests through important considerations for their lifestyle financial plans as we move forward with the next phase of our lives, whether this is questioning our careers or starting/developing our own businesses.

Each of the three days began with an inspiring talk by Rosie Nixon, founder of Rosie’s Reinvention Retreats (you can read more about her story here). Former editor-in-chief of Hello! Magazine, Rosie trained to be a life coach in 2023, and she says, “I was also lucky to be able to access some incredible experts during my career transition too – bona fide leaders in their fields – that I had within my network from 24 years working in the media.

“Thus, I wanted to bring some of that magic to lots more women in a unique ‘retreat-in-a-day’ format. I am now on a mission to normalise the concept of reinvention so we may enter this next phase positively, equipped with some self-awareness, new skills and a support network.

“I believe meaningful reinvention must be rooted in reality, and I am absolutely delighted that Attivo shares my vision for supporting midlife women. As an event sponsor, Attivo provides financial expertise at the retreats, addressing areas such as protecting your finances and overcoming the typical ‘blockers’ enabling your financial position to facilitate your next life chapter.”

The first day – Career Reinvention – was back-to-back inspiration! We began with some ‘rapid tapping’ with celebrity tapper Poppy Delbridge; the session left everyone energised and ready for coaching with Amy Savage from This is Glow, who workshopped around finding our purpose and moving ahead with intention. What do we want to let go – and what do we take forward?

Michelle Griffith Robinson, retired Olympic triple jumper, was up next. Michelle is an absolute firebrand; she urged us all to find our passion and purpose – and to pay it forward. Michelle is an ambassador for (amongst others) Women’s Aid, Menopause Mandate and Diabetes UK, and it’s her mission to empower women at every stage of their lives. We also heard from Ruth Kudzi of Optimus Coaching Academy. Master Certified Coach Ruth is all about harnessing the power of positive psychology to bring about change.

Attivo’s Katie White had some great advice about financial ‘building blocks’ when planning your next chapter. Protecting and projecting plans for the future can be a daunting but exciting time, and Katie talked about prioritising financial goals, protecting your finances and creating a budget – all crucial to moving forward with confidence.

On each day, guests (including some Attivo clients and their ‘plus ones’) were offered use of the spa facilities for a swim or an appointment with Facebible, Fairmont Windsor’s innovative beauty clinic. We all returned refreshed and ready to hear each day’s fireside chat, with Rosie interviewing a celebrity guest.

On day one, this was TV presenter Andrea McLean. Andrea talked very openly about the various challenges she has overcome during the past decade or so and the resilience at her core, which has helped her to cope with losing her business and home, as well as health issues. She’s such a fighter – and is now firmly back on the up, with all those learnings tucked under her belt and ready to give the next stage of her life a go!

Day two was an absolute masterclass in how to kick-start your business, no matter what stage it’s at. Star of the day was Holly Tucker MBE, founder of Notonthehighstreet and Holly & Co, who came to talk about her journey as an entrepreneur. Holly told us all, “Founders are the rockstars of the future” – and she spoke in depth about starting a business.

“No matter how long your business has been running, it’s not enough to just have a unique selling point; you need to understand why your company exists. For example, Holly & Co isn’t just an online marketplace; its mission is to make women feel fulfilled and to create positive change”.

She told the assembled business owners: “Your superpower is that you go into starting a business with naivete and curiosity: you’re determined to solve the problems. And if you ever get to the stage where you are relaxing on your laurels, that’s when the innovation stops. Instead, sit in the ‘uncomfortable chair’ and ask yourself, ‘What don’t I know, what’s not working?’”.

Other speakers included Nathalie Morrison, founder of Astrea London, who began life in the City of London and founded Hay Hill Wealth Management. Nathalie took us on the rollercoaster ride of her life so far (brilliant – and very funny), and everyone in the room learned something from her sheer ambition and fortitude. Look out for Nathalie’s new venture – lab-grown diamonds.

A session with Kirsty Raper of Rebuildagram gave everyone some whistle-stop learnings about using Instagram and creating Reels.

The days events ended with Rosie’s fireside chat – this time with Holly Tucker, talking more personally about her childhood (her family called her Holly Hurricane!) and involving her husband and son along the way as she has grown her businesses.

Day three was actually World Menopause Day, and we focused on women’s health and wellbeing. The day began with a fantastic session by Chinese medicine practitioner Katie Brindle. Katie, who you may have seen on ITV’s This Morning, taught us breathing techniques to recharge the batteries and the all-important ‘jiggle’! (It’s probably best to view this here for ‘how to,’ but we guarantee it works as an energiser and mood shifter!).

Midlife fitness expert Kate Rowe-Ham, nutritionist Jo Lyall and Dr Raj Arora (founder of Facebible at The Fairmont) talked all things hormones, health, nutrition and fitness. We all felt armed and ready to tackle midlife health issues with renewed confidence after the session. Psychologist Anna Mathur gave a great session on ‘overcoming uncomfortable truths’ and tackling the negative voices we can sometimes grapple with. Heading on into the afternoon, a panel on Ageless Beauty with Grace Fodor of Studio10 makeup, Dr Raj Arora and And Begin’s consultant dermatologist Dr Malvina Cunningham completed the expert lineup.

The three days gave everyone a tool kit to draw on in the future, from financial know-how from Attivo to wellbeing, health and business coaching. It feels only fitting to finish with a quote from one of our attendees:

Congratulations on this quite exceptional event. Be proud. Thank you so much for a lovely day spent with many inspiring women. I have so much to process.
– Attivo guest Karen, who attended day three.
