ATTIVO

Celebrating the good things in life!

We gathered with our guests and partners for a unique event at Dick Lovett, the official Ferrari dealer in Swindon.

Guests were invited to view a range of Ferraris, from classics to prototypes, all bathed by the glow of the summer evening sunshine – beautiful!

Whilst we debated which car would be our top choice, champagne, canapés, and a gin bar by Piston Gin made for the perfect icebreaker before sitting down to a discussion hosted by Attivo. The theme of the evening was one of Attivo’s Lifestyle Financial Planning tenets: Enjoying your Wealth.

We were treated to insight from some of the UK’s most qualified asset-class experts:

Stuart O’Reilly from the Royal Mint; Richard Hatton, for Swindon Ferrari; Meg Randell of Bonhams, Ellie Wardle; Paragon Gallery, our own Associate Director Ryan Wright; and keynote: Jonathan Pratt. Subjects were as diverse as handbags, art, coins – and, of course, cars.

The panellists all clearly love what they do and share one commonality: they form lasting relationships with customers who buy (and sometimes collect) from them, much like Attivo’s client relationships, which can last for many years. As experts in their field, they advise as well as inspire their clients – whether they’re investing or buying one-off ‘passion’ pieces.

Stuart O’Reilly from Royal Mint talked about the fascinating stories behind coins – some of which are almost 1,000 years old – the Royal Mint Museum and podcast really brings some of these stories to life.

Ellie Wardle from The Paragon Gallery was a fantastic advocate for buying art you feel an emotional connection to; she told the audience to “Buy what you love”. Meg Randell from Bonhams, the auctioneers, is a specialist in handbags and she talked with palpable excitement about the Birken bags she has sold (and the one about to enter the market in the coming weeks which will be the original prototype). Richard Hatton, a brand ambassador for Swindon Ferrari,  gave a glimpse into the world of the Ferrari buyer and their passion for exclusivity and unique models which stand the test of time.

Our keynote speaker, Jonathan Pratt, is an auctioneer, valuer, and Managing Director of Dawson’s Auctioneers. He’s also the star of various TV shows (Bargain Hunt, Antiques Roadtrip). Jonathan was great fun, regaling us with stories of valuations, which didn’t quite work out as expected.

Our guests told us that the panellists had given them a different perspective on the asset classes discussed. Portfolio diversification, wealth preservation and the hot topic of the moment, Inheritance Tax, were all dissected and discussed over champagne and canapés.

It was a wonderful evening, and, as Ryan said, “Through the modelling that we do, we give our clients the confidence to be able to go and live the life they want”. Perhaps it’s time to let your passion drive your purchasing decisions!

Thanks to everyone who attended, our partners and speakers for the evening and, of course, to Swindon Ferrari, who have been engendering lifelong passions for their iconic cars since 1939.
